Recently, VYPE had the privilege to talk to and to find out more about Goddard High School senior athlete Matrix Eames.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
Eames: To make it to the Shrine Bowl
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Eames: My last team camp with my teammates. Being able to bond with them and to get closer to them in the little time I’ve been at GHS has been amazing.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
Eames: Mrs.Hinton. She always greets you with a smile, and if your day is going badly, she makes it just a little bit better.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Eames: Transferring to Goddard.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Eames: Pablo Martinez. He plays on the defensive line with me and helps to keep me up and to keep my head on straight.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
Eames: Getting to work with the younger kids. I’m very close with the sophomore and freshman classes. They look up to me. Being able to help guide them is something I take pride in.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
Eames: I’m going to South Africa, and I’m taking my dad with me.
VYPE: If we gave you $5000 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
Eames: I would save it. More likely, I’d invest it.
VYPE: What other sports, activities, or community service projects do you participate in, and how have these helped to prepare you for the future?
Eames: I also throw the discus and shot put in track. Track and football have always given me two different paths to explore for my future.
