Eisenhower’s Carly Dameron – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Advance Physical Therapy

By Ken Hansard

Goddard Eisenhower senior athlete Carly Dameron is hoping to help lead the Tigers’ volleyball team to even greater heights after a strong 2022 campaign that saw the Tigers finish 27-11 overall.

Dameron is a three sport athlete who also plays basketball and throws javelin and discus for the Tigers’ track team.  When asked what she is most excited about heading into her senior year, Dameron replied, “Making fun memories with my friends and competing against other athletes.”

When asked about goals for the season, Dameron’s answer was very team-oriented.  “I really want to be a leader on my team and to be someone the underclassmen look up to.”

Dameron identified one challenge in particular facing this year’s Tiger volleyball team that she and her fellow upper-classmen might need to address as the leaders of the team, “Keeping our energy up. We tend to like to go three sets rather than just winning in two.”

As far as personal accolades from last season are concerned, Dameron was ranked in the top three in Kansas in hitting percentage and was also highly ranked in blocking.

As for plans for athletics after high school, Dameron says, “I plan on going to college for basketball.  Although I am not sure where, yet, I plan to sign after basketball season.”  Dameron is also not yet certain of a career path, but definitely has some pretty strong inclinations.  “I would love to be an athletic trainer or a physical therapist.”
