Recently, VYPE had the privilege to talk to and to find out more about Goddard High School athlete Jake Jasnoski.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
I want my sports teams each season to go as deep into the playoffs as we can. I would also like to graduate and get into a good college.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Definitely the Washburn Football camps with all my teammates.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
I’d have to say it’s a tie between the duo of Mrs. Oller and Mrs. Hansard from intermediate school and Mrs. Beiter from GHS.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
I would have to go with my first varsity start my sophomore year. Just running out under the lights. It was such a cool moment.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
I’d say probably my teammate, Lane Nelson. He’s just been the guy from day one who will be your best friend outside of football, but during practices or games, he’s the one pushing you past your limits.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
The brotherhood. We’ve all known each other for most of our lives, and we all grew up together. So we all have each other’s backs. We all want the best for each other, and I think that motivates everyone in the program to do better and strive for better.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
I’d probably go down to Cancun. I would most definitely have to take the team. All the boys on the beach? That would be a great time.
VYPE: If we gave you $5000 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
There are so many ideas. I’d have to go with buying sneakers. Especially since I don’t have to pay for them. I would just buy all the sneakers I could afford.
VYPE: What other sports, activities, or community service projects do you participate in, and how have these helped to prepare you for the future?
I was in Law classes at my high school, and we did a bunch of different volunteer work. I really got to help the Food Bank serve food and talk with the customers about their lives. That was a great experience. I’ve also been able to help with the youth camps in my area, and they are great kids to work with. I try to give them advice they might use later down the road. Also, every year the team helps with the Air Capital Flyers. We go bowling, and we help the people with disabilities bowl, and we just hang out with them for a couple hours. It is a great time full of laughs, and I know every guy on our team enjoys it.
