Brian Means has long had a connection to Goddard High School.
From playing baseball and wrestling for the Lions, to a long list of family connections to the school, Means is a Lion through and through.
Now in his fourth year as an assistant baseball coach, Jim Foltz, Means is giving back to the school that gave him so much.
“As a Goddard high grad and a former player for Coach Foltz, it is great to give back to my former school and see the kids enjoy sports and succeed in both the classroom and on the field,” Means said. “It means a great deal to have coach Foltz appreciate the things all of us coaches do for the baseball boys.”
Holding students accountable for their work in the classroom is just one of Means’ responsibilities.
“As an assistant, I help with lots of things on and off the field but for both wrestling and baseball I help check grades,” Means said. “(I want) to give kids the ability succeed in the classroom as well as their athletics on the field.”
At this point, Means wants to keep being an assistant coach – a job he loves.
I would love to continue as Coach Foltz’s assistant for as long as he wants to stay the head coach,” Foltz said.
